The platinum coins of 19th century had a fascinating history of creation, although they did not play a significant role as a currency in circulation. The existence of platinum circulating coins is a unique phenomenon, which had no analgs in minting in the Russian Empire. The monograpth describes a complete history of the preparation and implementation of the project on minting coins from platinum discovered in the Urals, supplemented by previously unpublished evidence from the historical archives, which also enabled examining the anthropological aspect. The monograph introduces platinum coins from the state museums of Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania.
